Welcome to The Grove Arms
The Grove Arms @ Ludwell is a charming 16th Century Grade II listed country Inn combining warm, friendly Bars & Restaurants and with high standard en-suite Accommodation - 3 Star Automobile Association Rating.
The Grove Arms is situated beside the A30 in the village of Ludwell close to the Dorset / Wiltshire border and only two miles from the historic town of Shaftesbury in the west or 17 miles from the Cathedral City of Salisbury in the east.
It is an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area of outstanding natural beauty either by foot, bicycle, motorbike or motor car.
This Inn, which was once owned by the Grove family; baronets and extensive local landowners, has three main areas "The Crest Room" and "The Jazz Room" which are ideal for small or large parties. One can also enjoy snacks, meals and local Cask Ales from Blandford in the "Below Decks Bar".
Dog owners are very welcome in this area of the pub.
The Grove was originally known as The Black Dog whilst another local pub, in Berwick St John, was called The Grove Arms Inn. It is said that when signwriters came to rehang the two pub signs, after a tipple too many, forgot where they were ! ... the pub signs became mixed up and thus we became The Grove Arms. |
